EVERLINER POND LINERS

REINFORCED POLYETHYLENE LINERS

Our reinforced polyethylene liners (RPE) are the strongest liners (highest puncture and tear resistance) of any liner even remotely close to the price range of these products. The need for geotextile underlayment has been decreased with the use of RPE liners. Only unraked, extremely rocky areas need to be covered with geotextile. Other liners need to go over extremely smooth surfaces.

  • The PD24 liners can come in one piece up to 60,000 square feet. PD36 liners can come in one piece up to 40,000 square feet.
  • Field seaming can be done for larger liners or irregular shaped large ponds. A custom quote will be prepared upon the receipt of hand drawing or CAD drawing of your project.
  • This liner does not need to be completely covered to enforce the warrantee due to its extremely high UV rating and its high puncture and tear resistance.
  • Most orders are shipped within 48 hours of confirmation of and payment for an order.
  • Many liquids can be contained with RPE liners including water, oil, gas, sewage, various chemicals, and contaminated soil.
  • Liners above 1000 square feet are shipped via common carrier. Liners will be "accordion" stacked into a 6 foot wide pile and then rolled up using a 4" cardboard core. The roll is then placed on a pallet and wrapped in geotextile material. A plastic wrap cover goes over this and it is ready for shipment to your site.
  • At the jobsite: Typically the roll will be marked with directional arrows and numbers showing you the proper placement of the liner and the proper direction to unroll the liner (usually unroll lengthwise, and then pull across the width of the pond).
  • The liner should have an anchor trench securing the liner along the edges of the pond after the liner in stretched out. Sometimes a "shelf" is used when a trench isn’t possible. A third method is to simply cover the liner material with dirt on the banks of the pond.
  • Repair of the liner can be done through heat welding or with the use of our double sided adhesive tape. The surfaces of the liner and the patch material need to be clean and dry.
  • It is always preferable to have the pond dry before the liner is installed. It is possible to install in a partially filled pond…give us a call to find out how.
  • Pipe boots (for putting pipes thru the liner) can be installed with the double sided tape. Heat welding is always preferable. Dripworks has tank adaptors available also.
  • Spec sheets can be viewed online. PD24 Spec Sheet and PD36 Spec Sheet

Estimated Pond Volume:

Final Length: Width:

Approximate material cost:

To estimate the amount of material needed:

  1.  Measure the length and width of the pond.
  2.  Measure the depth of the pond and double it. Add this number to both the length and width measurements.
  3.  Now add 5 feet (2 1/2 feet per side) to the length and to the width for the apron (see the illustration below) on a small pond. (Length x Width is less than 1000 sq. ft.). Add 10 feet for the apron and trench on a large pond.
  4. OR, If the pond has already been dug, measure across the bottom (length & width) and add material for the apron.

Pond Construction

SITE PREP

The excavation should be smooth with NO sharp rocks or debris exposed when finished.  A layer of sand or Geotextile underlayment should be placed under the liner if outcroppings or sharp rocks can't be removed.  Regard this step as insurance for your liner.  If you plan to cover your liner with rock, gravel or plant containers, our Geotextile material can be used on top of the liner. To anchor the liner around a small pond, soil or smooth rocks can be used.  For large ponds, a 1 foot deep trench with the liner tucked into it is needed to hold the liner in place.

POND LINER INSTALLATION

Liner placement Unroll the liner
When the liner is ready to be installed, start by placing it near the one of the four corners. The top of the liner will have two arrows with dimensions. Unfold the liner in the direction indicated by the first arrow.
Attach wooden boards to leading edge Liner in place
Attach wooden boards to the leading edge of the liner. Pull the liner in the direction of the second arrow manually, with a winch or with a vehicle. With manual labor a minimum of one installer is recommended at every 15-20 feet along the edge.

AFTER THE LINER IS IN

Once the liner is in, you may want to consider adding an aerator to prevent stratification and to oxygenate the water for fish and other pond life, a UV Clairifier (built into some filters) to help control algae growth, beneficial bacteria to help improve the pond's quality and clarity and perhaps a water feature such as a waterfall.
