EVERLINER POND LINERS

POLYETHYLENE LINERS

Our polyethylene liners come in 20, 30 and 40 mil thicknesses. Polyethylene is a substantial material that is great for use in anything from a backyard water garden or koi pond, to a canal, an irrigation pond or an ice skating rink. The Pond Lining Estimator below can help you determine the size of liner that you will need for your pond. There is also a section showing some of the steps involved in putting in a pond liner. Before you place an order, be sure to request our catalog and pond liner samples. You can either call us at 800 522-3747 or click here to order a catalog on-line. Please feel free to give us a call for help in selecting the right liner for your application.

All polyethylene liners over 1,000 square feet are shipped FREIGHT FREE in the Continental United States. For liners under 1,000 square feet, there is a small handling fee of $35.00. Please call for a freight quote for orders to Hawaii or Alaska. Someone must be present to inspect and accept delivery when delivered by commercial trucking lines. We strongly recommend that you have our pond liner samples in hand before you order your pond liner.

To estimate the amount of material needed:

  1.  Measure the length and width of the pond.
  2.  Measure the depth of the pond and double it. Add this number to both the length and width measurements.
  3.  Now add 5 feet (2 1/2 feet per side) to the length and to the width for the apron (see the illustration below) on a small pond. (Length x Width is less than 1000 sq. ft.). Add 10 feet for the apron and trench on a large pond.
  4. OR, If the pond has already been dug, measure across the bottom (length & width) and add material for the apron.

Pond Construction

SITE PREP

The excavation should be smooth with NO sharp rocks or debris exposed when finished.  A layer of sand or Geotextile underlayment should be placed under the liner if outcroppings or sharp rocks can't be removed.  Regard this step as insurance for your liner.  If you plan to cover your liner with rock, gravel or plant containers, our Tan Polyester overlayment material can be used on top of the liner. To anchor the liner around a small pond, soil or smooth rocks can be used.  For large ponds, a 1 foot deep trench with the liner tucked into it is needed to hold the liner in place.

POND LINER INSTALLATION

Liner placement Unroll the liner
When the liner is ready to be installed, start by placing it near the center of one of the long sides as indicated above. Unfold the liner in both directions.
Attach wooden boards to leading edge Liner in place
Attach wooden boards to the leading edge of the liner. Pull the liner across the width manually, with a winch or with a vehicle. A minimum of one installer is needed for each 200 pounds of pond liner material. In this picture, the liner is partially installed with the underlayment still showing on the left side.

AFTER THE LINER IS IN

Once the liner is in, you may want to consider adding an aerator to prevent stratification and to oxygenate the water for fish and other pond life, a UV Clairifier (built into some filters) to help control algae growth, beneficial bacteria to help improve the pond's quality and clarity and perhaps a water feature such as a waterfall.
